In collaboration with Bint Mbareh, this site-specific installation was commissioned as part of See Djerba Festival in Tunisia. Installed next to two “unclaimed” graves and a Sufi dergah within the museum premises, the work invites guests into the space, exploring the Amazigh concept of Akros, or entanglement within a ritual of grief, from lighting candles to burning Jawy Bokhoor. The work explores the entanglement of human and more-than-human histories projected into relations to lunar cycles, Shihan mountain in southern Syria, basalt stones, and mold on paper, narrated by a deceased poet mourning himself.
